Created Player Goals/Apps

Hi guys, I often like to create myself in the game and put me at my local town club, normally I have been able to edit everything fine, but on FM09 it wont let me edit my appearances/goals stats for previous seasons.

I put in the numbers, say 25 apps 10 goals, go onto the next year and when I go… more

The games animation is weak in my opinion

based upon all the vids i have seen i think its safe to say that the animation (striking mostly) pales in comparison to that of :

The Show

Far too robotic, and the way a players head just bobbles as he eats punches with very little body reaction isnt a… more

Big Cap goes to Einstein

Spectators could not wait to see some of their favorite jockeys in action, as six big names descended on the Santa Anita Park Racecourse, to participate in the Santa Anita Handicap, also referred to as the Big Cap. On Saturday, 7 March 2009, jockeys Ramon Dominguez, John Velazquez, Julien Leparoux, Edgar Prado, Jon Court and Robby Albarado were greeted by an enthusiastic crowd, as everyone braced themselves for the excitement and thrill of the 72nd Santa Anita Handicap. World Class jockeys, spectacular horse racing athletes and overwhelming support, made the Big Cap an event to remember, and Einstein, a horse not to forget. more

World Cup Qualifying: Trapattoni happy for players to prove his point

After failing as Italy boss, Giovanni Trapattoni takes Ireland to Bari on Wednesday night with a big point to prove. But the Italian is in relaxed mood and more than happy to let his players do his talking on the pitch, says Ralph Ellis.
The thing about having a point to prove is it makes you try too hard. I remember watching Ian Holloway at close quarters during a season when his efforts to win promotion to the Championship in his first manager’s job at Bristol Rovers collapsed around his ears. Running away with the title in mid-March, his team took six points from the last 10 games and didn’t even get into the play-offs. He’d tell you now that he lost it because he cared too much - it was the club he supported as a boy and his passion overtook his logic.

You might fear that Giovanni Trapattoni would be in danger of making exactly the same mistake as he goes to Italy with Ireland tomorrow night. The 70-year-old has had a glittering career as a boss, with only Sir Alex Ferguson having won more trophies among modern managers. But there’s one huge stain on his record and it came from his time as boss of his country’s national team.

Installed as the man who was destined to put the Azzurri back on the pinnacle of world football, instead he suffered defeat by South Korea in the 2002 World Cup finals. And when he survived that debacle thanks to talk of refereeing conspiracies to help the hosts, he merely walked into another shambles of a major tournament at Euro 2004, when his team failed to qualify from the group stage. Even the Prime Minister turned on his negative tactics and he was hounded from the job. Which might not have been so bad if only Marcello Lippi hadn’t taken over and won the World Cup two years later!

So Trapattoni heads to Bari with a massive point to prove, not only to Lippi but to the whole of Italy. It would be like Steve McClaren bringing Belgium or Austria to Wembley.

He’ll be busting a gut to stage an upset. But will he try too hard? Maybe not because what’s on his side is years of experience and wisdom and the knowledge that he has to trust his players to perform rather than think the show is all about what goes on in the dug-out.

Coach Liam Brady has been spelling out his relaxed approach in this morning’s papers. \”He has confidence in the players and they are very together,\” says the Arsenal legend. \”I think that’s what the manager himself has created during this campaign - real unity and a very strong team spirit. Going to Bari with that in place makes me think we have a very good chance of getting a result.\”

Ireland have played five, won three and drawn two in this campaign so far and that of itself is testament to the way Trapattoni has rebuilt the side. He still has his obsession with carefully organised defence, but that’s exactly what was needed with a nation who don’t have superstar attackers.

Italy are [1.46] to score a home win, and I fancy laying that. A safer bet could be to lay the [2.3] for the Italians to be winning at half-time and full-time, because you could easily see Ireland keeping the game tight for long periods before eventually conceding a goal. Odds of [1.83] for under 2.5 goals in the game also looks generous.

Five things you might not know about Giovanni Trapattoni

1. Born near Milan in 1939, he nearly died at the age of three from diptheria

2. His father Francesco worked 14 hour shifts in a textile factory before leaving to work with nearby farmers until dusk

3. When Giovanni was offered a contract with Milan he defied his dad to sign it - Francesco wanted him to take the security of a job with the local bank

4. In ten years as Juventus manager from 1976 to 1986 he won all three European competitions with them - German Udo Lattek is the only other manager to have won them all (he did it with Borussia, Bayern Munich and Barcelona).

5. His 2002 book, Coaching High Performance Soccer, has been translated into eight languages. more
